Bill and Gloria Lewis Family Scholarship

Bill and Gloria Lewis were farmers and ranchers in the St. John-Hudson communities.  They raised their children, Pam Lewis Peitsch and Greg, on land homesteaded by Gloria’s grandfather, in the house built by her parents, Lena & Post Witt.  Education has always been important to their family.  Post boarded with an older sister and graduated from St. John High School in 1922,  Bill and Gloria - 1945, Greg – 1971, Greg’s children Joshua - 2000, Megan Lewis Barney – 2002.  Pam graduated from the last graduating class of Hudson High School in 1968.  Bill and Gloria understood the importance of higher education and encouraged their children and grandchildren to attend college.  They both graduated from Kansas State University along with Pam, Greg, Pam’s son Christopher Peitsch, and Joshua.  Megan graduated from Sterling College.

By establishing The Bill & Gloria Lewis Family Scholarship, their children and grandchildren, are hoping to not only honor the memory of their parents/grandparents but to encourage and support students from rural Kansas to pursue higher education whether it be a Trade/Technical School, an Associate’s Degree from a Junior College, or a Bachelor’s Degree from a Kansas College or University.
