2026 GUIDELINES
Deadline for submission: March 1st
About Amy
Amy Deterding Keeny was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, and friend. Her life was marked by deep compassion and unwavering support for those around her. Sadly, Amy left this world too soon on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the age of 57, following a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Amy was born on January 21, 1964, to Max and Shirley (Kubik) Deterding. She grew up in Turon, Kansas, where she attended Fairfield High School. Amy’s pursuit of higher education led her to the University of Kansas, where she established many life-long friendships and met her future husband, Mark Keeny. She cherished her time at KU, especially her involvement in the Delta Gamma sorority.
Family and Community
After marrying in 1986, Amy and Mark moved to Kingman in 1995. Amy was a devoted mother to Sarah and Sam, consistently supporting them in all their activities. She built strong relationships within the Kingman community, volunteering with various organizations and serving as a substitute teacher at Kingman High School.
The scholarship established in Amy’s name honors her enduring appreciation for education and dedication to community volunteerism. It serves as a lasting tribute to her positive influence and commitment to helping others.
