May 26 Seconds Series: Youth Making a Difference

Posted Tuesday May 26, 2026

As part of its monthly “26 on the 26th” series, the South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) is highlighting Youth Making a Difference (YMAD), the Foundation’s youth philanthropy council.

Started in 2003, YMAD introduces local high school students to the power and purpose of philanthropy. Over the past 22 years, more than 200 students have participated in the program, gaining hands-on experience reviewing grant requests, learning about nonprofit organizations, and discussing real community needs.

YMAD students don’t just learn about giving — they practice it. Through thoughtful conversations and grantmaking decisions, they see firsthand how generosity can strengthen their communities.

The program reflects SCCF’s ongoing commitment to cultivating leadership and encouraging civic engagement across generations.

This is SCCF—connecting generosity with the next generation.
