About Gene and Marilyn
Gene and Marilyn were married on August 25, 1957, in Kingman, Kansas. Marilyn worked office jobs in the oil and insurance industry after completing business school in Wichita, Kansas. They resided in Manhattan, Kansas, until Gene graduated from Kansas State University. Gene was on the KSU Livestock Judging team that took 1st overall at the National Western Livestock Show in Denver, CO, in 1958. His individual awards included 1st in beef cattle and 1st overall. The couple then moved to the Gyp Hills in Barber County to begin their farm and ranch operation and raise their daughters, Karen, Pam, Linda and Charlotte.
Marilyn was a Proverbs 31 wife and mother in many ways! She was a hard worker and worked side by side with Gene on their family farm and was well known for her amazing home-cooked meals. Her servant's heart was a testament to her love for and faith in her Lord and Savior.
Gene was well-known for his love and knowledge of cattle. He was an expert at managing his cow-calf operation and being a great steward of God's beautiful land. His infectious laugh, positive attitude and faith were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Gene and Marilyn were involved in many community organizations throughout their lifetime, which included teaching as well as leadership roles at Union Chapel Church, Lone Eagle 4-H Club, Eagle Township and other groups. Spending time with their family, especially family vacations, was a highlight for them.
