NICHOLAS M. SCHEER SCHOLARSHIP

2026 GUIDELINES

About Nicholas                 

Nicholas Scheer was born in April 1981. He developed a love for farming early in life and was an invaluable help to his parents with the many responsibilities on their own farm. In addition, he also helped care for his sister, Cindy, who has Cerebral Palsy. At Kingman High School, he participated on the football team and in FFA, serving as vice president his senior year. Upon graduation, Nicholas attended Hutchinson Community College to study agriculture and animal science.

At the time of his tragic death in December 2004, he was half owner in Scheer Custom Swathing and Bailing; a business he started with his father. Nicholas was pleasant to everyone he met and was well loved by family, friends and acquaintances.

Scholarship Requirements:

  1. Must be a senior who will graduate from USD #331, Kingman High School the year the scholarship is awarded.
  2. Must have at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average.
  3. Must be pursuing an Agricultural field of study.
  4. Must be enrolled full-time in post-secondary education as defined by the institution of the student's choice.
  5. Must provide ACT score with verification.
  6. Two reference letters from the community regarding your character (non-family members).

This scholarship is NON-renewable.

South Central Community Foundation Requirements:

      1. Must upload two letters of recommendation.

           A. School teacher (any subject) 

           B. Community member (someone who knows you outside of school)

      2. Must upload ACT/SAT scores.

      3. Must upload high school transcript or if a current college student must upload college transcript.

Failure to complete any of these requirements will disqualify your application from consideration.
